NEWLY INSTALLEDSOD CARE
Once your sod has been installed, you now have an instant lawn.
But, that does not mean it does not need to be cared for. Proper
watering still needs to be done to ensure good root growth. Since
sod already has a root system, it requires deep infrequent watering,
as opposed to light frequent watering of new seed. For proper sod
watering, you should give your sod about 1” of water each
day. An easy way to figure out how much water this is would be to
put an empty tuna can (or any 1” thick can) out when watering,
and when it is full, stop watering. Also, when figuring out your
watering schedule, you should take into consideration weather conditions.
For example, if there is significant rainfall one day, you should
not water that day. To keep your lawn healthy and growing, be sure
to maintain it with a proper lawn care program.
